INDIA MOBILE CONGRESS’ 2023 (27th October 2023 – Day 1 Inauguration)

India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2023, the largest technological festival with telecom, media, and IoT forum in India and Asia, is being held from 27th to 29th October 2023. It is organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).

The theme of IMC 2023, is ‘Global Digital Innovation, an opportunity for telecom operators/ infrastructure providers, semiconductors, device, drones, 5G equipment designing and manufacturing companies, system integrators and start-ups to display their innovative products and solutions. The goal of IMC is to inspire innovation across various socio-economic sectors like healthcare, energy, agriculture, education, transportation, defence, disaster management, connecting unconnected through N-GSO satellites and more. This event propels India to the forefront of 5G technology implementation.

IMC 2023 is stages India’s largest tech exposition, conference, and demonstrations, boasting intellectual contributions from Industry leaders worldwide. The global tech fest aims to highlight the latest and greatest innovations in the realm of digital technology. Recognizing telecom as a foundation for digital growth of India, the key stakeholders of the industry gathered together at IMC 2023 to promote additional 5G applications, such as drones, enhancing 5G networks, and contributing to the creation of novel public
application.

Inaugurated by Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the event brought together players across the ICT industry to debate, discuss, disseminate, and demonstrate the endless potential of 5G. The event focused on not only ideating on how to democratize 5G in India but also on how to make India a technology champion, fostering international and regional cooperation, inspiring inclusive & sustainable development, promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, driving foreign and local investments,
amongst others. IMC 2023 highlights cutting-edge technologies like 5G and 6G, as well as delve into the world of Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and robotics, among others. Furthermore, the forum explored challenges and concerns within the tech industry, the promising prospects of green technology, and the ever-pressing issue of cybersecurity.

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Friday 27 th October 2023 inaugurated the 7th India Mobile Congress at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. The inauguration session was also attended by Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister for Communications, Electronics & Information Technology and Railways, Government of India, Shri Devusinh Chauhan, Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications, Shri Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications, along with other government officials. Mr. Akash M. Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio, Mr. Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Aditya Birla Group, also address the inaugural session.

A 2-minute video showcasing India’s innovation capabilities along with the fastest 5G roll-out in the world, the impact of digitalization on the citizen-centric services, including digital payment, and deployment of indigenous 5G stack, was played during the inaugural. Hon’ble Prime Minister also launched 100 5G test labs across various educational institutions in India.

This year’s IMC inauguration attracted over 7600 attendees, apart from Media and other representatives. 3600 students from the NCR region participated in the event. The event had 247 companies, 419 startups, and 1267 foreign delegates across 48 countries. On the first day, after the inaugural session, 46000 visitors experienced the future of technology at the exhibition.
